It was not raining that hard so we went to see the light show on the Bay Bridge at the Embarcadero. Surprised to see a double rainbow over the Bay Bridge – the sunset was amazing. A drink at Le Mar, a restaurant along the Embarcadero then off to the Castro. A drink at 440 Bar and then dinner at Orphan Andy’s. Orphan Andy’s was the first place I ate in San Francisco after moving here in 1990. It’s still a cool diner at the F Market stop at the beginning of Castro Street.
The first pic is from where I’m working on the ceiling project. The other views are from this small park-like area. There was just an old set of stairs up a hill and then commanding views of the city. So cool to have little areas like this in San Francisco. Near the intersection of Twin Peaks and Carmel.
Claire Bain is an artist and my friend at Art Explosion. She wanted to recreate Manet’s Olympia painting by having people pose in a set she made at the studio.
Here is a picture of Claire at Open Studios (going on this weekend at Art Explosion 2425 17th Street @ Potrero 12pm -5pm in San Francisco). Also the picture we created together – me posing as Olympia and in drag. She took several pictures and then put the best together. I thought she did a great job creating a sculpture of the cat. You can see Claire’s blog here: http://spi-group.blogspot.com/2012/11/chicano-man-as-manets-olympia-by-claire.html
After some back and forth, finally making some progress. The texture was too dark at night and I had to lighten the whole thing, making sure that the new stuff blended in. I’ve painted something halfway through the room and hope to finish half of it by the end of the week. It’s a struggle to keep things consistent and blending together in such a large room.
